For the last time I indulge in the enormously extensive breakfast buffet of the, for me, luxury hotel in Krabi.

I have again selected a small holiday bungalow for my next overnight stay. These are widely available in Thailand, always have their own parking space and are often even cheaper than a hotel room. The shortest route to it is 160 km but is on a boring four-lane road along Phuket. I opt for a 50 km longer route through Khlong Phanom National Park.

But first I visit the Buddhist Wat Bang Thong temple, one of the most beautiful in Thailand. It is a large complex with many buildings and statues that are maintained by 169 monks. Everything is very colorful and richly covered with gold leaf that sparkles in the sun. Really a feast for the eyes and the buses with many Russian tourists drive back and forth.

Well into the afternoon, when fatigue is starting to set in due to the heat, I arrive at my cottage. I am happy to pay the 2 euros extra for the air conditioning because with only a ceiling fan the cooling will not come.
Further on my route I drive through Khlong Phanom National Park. The environment reminds me most of the setting for a King Kong or Tarzan movie. High steep rocks with trees and plants that seem to have been there since prehistoric times. A beautiful jungle with immaculate asphalt and that makes it a pleasure to drive through.
