My piece of paradise on earth

By ivo

My website and socials have been updated, my freelance work assignment has been delivered and there is nothing else to do in the area around my holiday home, time to move on.

Normally I book the next place to stay the night before I leave, but the place I found on Googlemaps doesn't answer the phone and can't be booked on the internet. Still, I would like to go there. It concerns a number of holiday homes that are located directly on the beach. A review tells me they were still open a few weeks ago so I'm just going to give it a go. According to those reviews, the somewhat dated houses are very cheap (€13.50), especially for such a prime location.

It is more than 300 km drive, but since the traffic is light and the roads are perfect, it is doable. Most of the traffic consists of souped-up pick-up trucks and noisy light motorcycles. Speed rules seem to exist, because there are signs, but nobody obeys them. The longer distance today is no problem at all and another wonderful day of riding flies by.

As I take the last bend of my route, a great view unfolds; blue water, white beach, palm trees and on the other side of the street some low-rise buildings, including the area with the holiday homes. When I stop, the manageress arrives and after a short negotiation I park my motorcycle in front of my house. My piece of paradise on earth.
