Mountains, hills, beautiful roads and lots of space. It looks a bit like Austria, but less 'polished', a bit rougher. The language is also beautiful. Somehow it looks like Portuguese and sometimes it seems like I recognize Dutch words. At least not the Russian accent I expected.
When I drive away from the campsite in Kobarid I don't know where I will end up that day. In any case, I want to visit Predjama Castle: a 13th century castle with dungeons and tunnels that is built in the gigantic opening of a cave. But as I thought, this castle is also a tourist attraction, so I leave it at a few pictures and drive on. Since I want to go to Croatia, I will keep that as my direction. The campsites are less and less sown and around noon, with the help of Googlemaps, I have my final goal for today in sight. Fortunately it is a campsite with a restaurant because today all supermarkets and shops are closed because it is a national holiday. I promise myself that tomorrow I will cook my own meal again, that is the best.
The next morning, when it starts to get light, I wake up to raindrops on my tent. I had already decided not to ride today, so that's good. Near my tent is a covered picnic area with table and benches. I claim that as my country house for today. The afternoon is wonderfully warm and sunny again, which makes it a good place to be on the river, which also marks the border between Slovenia and Croatia. Maybe I'll swim to Croatia for a while...
