Seaside resort of Krabi

By ivo

Reluctantly I prepare the bike to leave this wonderful island. I even arrive late at the pier where the ferry departs. The mooring lines are released just in time, after which I am approached by a Dutch man. "You're not going to tell me that you drove here from the Netherlands?" Haha, yes, and what follows is a nice conversation with 2 Dutch people who have been working and living in Thailand for a long time.

The crossing to the mainland goes smoothly and the road to Krabi is also a piece of cake. An almost deserted two-lane highway makes me almost fall asleep from the heat and the monotonous sound of the engine spinning the miles on cruise control. Fortunately, there is iced coffee from Amazon to refresh me.

When I check in at my hotel late in the afternoon, I am suddenly addressed in the Limburg dialect by acquaintances from the region in the Netherlands where I come from. What a coincidence! A little later we are sitting together in the pool bar to chat.

In the morning I look for a tailor in Ao Nang because the zipper of my largest bag is broken and that is not convenient now that the rainy season is approaching. For 300 bath (€8,-) I can pick up the bag, with a new zipper, the next day. Because of the repair I book an extra day and that's good because the next evening Mike invites me to celebrate his birthday in a local bar with his travel companions. Nice to have a beer with Limburgers again!
