Buddha under construction

By ivo

The 'resort' we stayed at does not offer breakfast, but does offer free coffee. With the large bunch of small bananas that we bought yesterday for 20 baht (€ 0.55) along the road and the coffee we were able to fill our bellies a bit.

The first part of the route we cover today is quite boring. As soon as we leave the main provincial road, we stop at an eatery for brunch. Delicious what is put on the table here for a few euros.

The road continues inland and is a pleasure to drive. We no longer stop for the beautiful temples, which we encounter in almost every village, but when we see another gigantic Buddha statue rising above the landscape, the anchors go out. Nice to see how the statue is made, because it's not finished yet. Seems very satisfying work if it can finally be painted in gold color.

The 3-person room we booked in a hostel in Penang is completely fine. There is no one present and the owner provides the necessary information by telephone. The key is on the door and that's how we leave the room the next morning.

In the evening Pim makes a few girls happy with a rose that was sold at our restaurant table, but it did not lead to further romances. 😀
