In order to be able to carry out necessary repairs to the motorcycle along the way, I attended a Bush Mechanic workshop. Very educative! Not only because of the explanation of Dakar veteran Werner, but also because of all the stories of the fellow students... ツ
The day started with an explanation of how to prepare the bike for a long trip and tips on tools to take with you. The necessary regular maintenance of the engine was also discussed. Our instructor then showed how to disassemble a wheel and replace a tire or spokes. After lunch, where not only sandwiches but also creamy anecdotes and travel experiences were discussed, it was time to try everything for yourself. It was not easy to replace such a stiff motorcycle tire. Hopefully all I learned will be spared during the journey…
