Today is the third day we drive south, crossing two National Parks. That sounds nice, we thought too, but in reality it is a boring 2-lane road with a lot of freight traffic. Then it is no fun with 37 degrees.

Last night we already reserved the overnight address because we don't want to be faced with surprises again. Kamphaeng Phet is a small town and we easily drive to the address. The cottage has a bedroom on the ground floor and on the 1st floor and it is nice to sleep separately for once because my sons like the room to be colder than I like.

The neighboring hotel has a swimming pool where we would like to cool off, but unfortunately it is only for our own guests. Then we jump on the motorbike to go to the local swimming pool. Outside at the gate is a rack with a hundred flip flops in all sizes. Guests are expected to change their own slippers or shoes there. The pool is small, just deep enough to swim (1 metre) and covered with a corrugated iron roof to protect against the sun. It cools nicely.

In the evening when we walk back from our outing for dinner, we are called into a cafe in the back by a young girl. Apparently she is celebrating her 24th birthday there with her friends. Since the average age is not even half that of mine, I call it quits and opt for my bed. Getting up the next morning is no problem for me, but Pim and Rik have a hard time with it. Apparently it was fun for a long time.
