View of Myanmar

It's a lot of fun on the road again. To recover, we stop at a coffee shop that is made entirely of bamboo and offers a beautiful view of the Thai hills. We drink iced coffee several times a day to cool down and as a pick-me-up in the exhausting heat.

After a few hours of wonderful steering, heading south along the border of Myanmar, the owner of a restaurant where we stop for something to eat, refers us to the bridge we just crossed. There is a snack bar under the bridge and in the shallow water there are all sorts of platforms to sit on. The rice with chicken and papaya salad tastes good and the water under our break cools us down nicely.

I have already tried several times to call the two overnight addresses that the village of our final destination has, but without success. We decide to take the chance and drive there anyway, but unfortunately that doesn't work out well. At the first address no one can be found who knows anything about the holiday bungalows and at the second address all houses appear to be rented out to locals. There is no other option than to drive 50 km to the next town. Just before we get there we see nice holiday homes next to the road and luckily there is still room available. It's all a bit dated, but the price is small and we're tired.
