To the Croatian coast

By ivo

It is 6.15 am and the campsite is in deep peace. The border river is beautifully calm and the water seems to smoke because of the gusts of fog. Nice light from the rising sun to take pictures, so I do that first.

Packing things is getting better and faster. I now know exactly which stuff belongs where and every now and then it seems that I even have space left.

Along the way I get annoyed with the GoPro because it doesn't do what I want a few times. As a result, I miss beautiful images of grumpy customs officers. The customs officers on the Croatian side even remind me, after passport control, where I also had to take off my helmet, to continue driving while still putting on my gloves. Yep, take it easy. Gloves are not easy to put on at 30 degrees.

On the Croatian side it is at least as beautiful as in Slovenia. Beautiful nature and beautiful, winding roads with good asphalt. On the way I stop to see the ruins of a castle and the entrance to a cave.

Fortunately I chose a relatively short route of 150 km today because it is hot. As long as I'm driving no problem, but slowly driving behind someone or standing still makes it very tiring. I then have trouble focusing. At the sight of the Adriatic coast and the beautiful bays, however, I am completely alert again.

After checking in at the small campsite, I immediately dive into the sea before unpacking my stuff. Nicely cooled down, I put up my tent again, go shopping in the local supermarket, have a chat with my neighbor who travels by bicycle and enjoy a sultry summer evening.
