I'm in Lampang because a BMW specialist, Tart Motorrad Cave, is here who will do the much needed maintenance on my bike. I already made the appointment from Cambodia a few weeks ago and had a set of new tires ordered, but I might have even reached the finish line in Kuala Lumpur on the current tires.
Just for the motorcyclists among us: the current tires (Metzeler Karoo Street 3) have run no less than 23,000 km from Turkey, which is more than one and a half times as much as I normally do with a set! Unfortunately, the same ones are not available here, but the Bridgestones (Battlax AT41) are comparable. Hopefully these will last that long too!
The mechanic is very precise and good at his job. A good five hours later everything is ready and the engine is ready for another 10,000 km.
My motorcycle is 'nicely' dirty, you can see the adventure in it, so washing is not really my priority. But with the tire changes and all the tinkering, it's now full of stains and grime. There is a car wash opposite my hotel, so I go there anyway to have the motorcycle washed. The three employees give it their all and a little later I see the color of the rims again and I drive off on my shiny reliable travel buddy.
The next 2 days I drive 790 km towards the coast. In the now extinct seaside resort of Cha-am I stay in the same hotel where I was with my sons. It's cloudy and rainy, so not really beach weather, but nice and warm so here my sitting flesh can rest in the pool.
