Sightseeing in Melbourne

By ivo

After arriving at Melbourne airport, I am picked up and warmly welcomed by my nephew's fiancé's family. The same evening my sister arrives with all her family and friends. After 8 months it is wonderful to see each other again.

The day before the start of the 3-day wedding, we have time to explore the city and we travel by public transport to the city center, where there is most to see. When we ask a city resident something in the bus, he spontaneously takes us along some nice sights.

Melbourne is a modern city with beautiful architecture and a great skyline. But also very extensive so we walk a lot. It strikes me that, compared to Asia, the sky is very blue and crystal clear. It's a beautiful day and the bright sun turns the green in the city into beautiful colors. Strange to see that autumn is approaching here. The first leaves are already starting to fall.

We conclude the city visit with a visit to the coast, which means that we appear quite late for dinner at the parents of the bride. Fortunately, family come and go in the house, where everyone can join in for traditional Indian dishes that, as is customary in the Dutch East Indies, are eaten without cutlery.

Tomorrow the first ceremonial day will start early, so let's get some sleep first.
