Sticky island Koh Phangan

By ivo

The island of Koh Phangan is also called 'sticky island': once you're there you don't want to leave. And that is not surprising because it offers everything you expect from a paradise.

White beaches with beautiful coral reefs in warm water for great snorkeling, beautiful nature with beautiful viewpoints and waterfalls, bars and restaurants with views that are almost too beautiful to believe, good roads, excellent connection to the mainland and friendly people.

But the island is also known for its full-moon parties. Just before a full moon, the island fills up with thousands of revelers who attend the huge parties, similar to a festival.

Fortunately, it is now low season and most hotels are not even half occupied. Beaches and beach bars are almost empty, some dive shops are closed and even the waterfalls are almost dry. I don't really want to think about what it is like here in high season because now it is wonderful to stay.
