Swiiiimming in the rain

The most beautiful city I have visited in recent months is undoubtedly Luang Prabang, located on the Mekong and the Nam Khan River. A Unesco World Heritage city with beautiful historic temples and many buildings from the time when Laos was still a colony of France. The city has a village feel and there is much to see and do in the area, which in turn attracts many young tourists.

The first day I'm here my stomach is a bit upset so I have a good excuse to stay here a few more days. Two days later I am completely fit again and I am going to visit one of the many waterfalls in the area. The Kuang Si waterfall is the most beautiful but also the busiest. However, I get there fairly early so I avoid the crowds a bit. Most tourists come here in the afternoon because this is the end of many excursions on the program.

The waterfall is really fantastic and the water is wonderfully cool for swimming. Moments later, however, a thunderstorm brings some heavy showers. It doesn't bother me at all because I'm already walking around in swimsuits anyway. Very special to swim in a downpour in this beautiful place.

On the way back I stop for a water buffalo milk ice cream and coffee at a restaurant that has nice seats in the middle of the rice fields. Meanwhile, dark clouds are gathering over the mountains again, but I come home dry again.
