Deze stad is vooral bekend door veel toeristen en bergbeklimmers die van daaruit in het Himalaya gebergte gaan klimmen of wandelen.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Er is maar \u00e9\u00e9n weg van de grens naar de stad Pokhara, een route van 180 km met duizenden bochten. Ik ben blij dat ik op een allroad motorfiets zit want op veel plekken is het asfalt door aardverschuivingen en vallend gesteente ernstig beschadigd of helemaal verdwenen. De brug is alleen toegankelijk voor voetgangers en er naast ligt een klein restaurantje met terras waar ik voor \u20ac2,10 geniet van een heerlijke noodle lunch. Het landschap is anders dan ik verwachtte: hoge steile bergen met veel groene vegetatie, palmbomen, bamboe, struiken met bloemen en in de dalen terrassen met akkers vol kleurig mosterdzaad. In een rustige wijk met veel hotels heeft een ontzettend aardige familie 2 grote \u2018hotels\u2019 in hun tuin. Mijn kamer heeft uitzicht op het Himalaya gebergte maar helaas is de lucht niet helder genoeg om witte toppen te kunnen zien. De tuin van het guesthouse is een echte oase met koffiestruiken, bloemen en zelfs papaya-bomen waar ik bij het ontbijt de vruchten van mag proeven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image Ik ben erg benieuwd of dat voor een grote stad als Kathmandu ook gaat gelden.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tegen zonsondergang is de lucht helderder geworden en kan ik vanaf het gasthuis de 7km hoge Fishtailmountain zien. Een heilige berg in het Himalaya gebergte, die niet beklommen mag worden.
