The most beautiful city I have visited in recent months is undoubtedly Luang Prabang, located on the Mekong and the Nam Khan River. A Unesco World Heritage city with beautiful historic temples and many buildings from the time when Laos was still a colony of France. The city has a village feel and there is much to see and do in the area, which in turn attracts many young tourists.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first day I'm here my stomach is a bit upset so I have a good excuse to stay here a few more days. Two days later I am completely fit again and I am going to visit one of the many waterfalls in the area. The Kuang Si waterfall is the most beautiful but also the busiest. However, I get there fairly early so I avoid the crowds a bit. Most tourists come here in the afternoon because this is the end of many excursions on the program.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The waterfall is really fantastic and the water is wonderfully cool for swimming. Moments later, however, a thunderstorm brings some heavy showers. It doesn't bother me at all because I'm already walking around in swimsuits anyway. Very special to swim in a downpour in this beautiful place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the way back I stop for a water buffalo milk ice cream and coffee at a restaurant that has nice seats in the middle of the rice fields. Meanwhile, dark clouds are gathering over the mountains again, but I come home dry again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
