The departure date (August 8) is getting closer and I notice that in everything. I can tick off more and more preparations that I had planned in recent years. Almost every evening I spend a few hours in my office scouring the internet for information about visas, open and closed borders, experiences of other travelers and places I want to visit. And I still have two routes on the map. Route A goes east, through Asia. Route B heads south, through Africa. Both routes contain countries that I cannot travel through due to political or pandemic reasons. I can postpone the choice until I am in Iran in mid-October.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But the preparation is not limited to my office. Because I will be visiting more than 30 countries, I have applied for a second, extra thick, passport. Plenty of room for the many stamps and handy if I have to leave my original passport at an embassy to apply for a visa. Immediately had 40 passport photos taken so that I don't run out on the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My motorcycle is now equipped with extra crash bars and beautiful stickers with my travel name and references to the internet. Incidentally, I immediately tested those crash bars on the off-road course that I followed, hahaha. Fortunately no damage to the engine, but a sore back from lifting. And as it turned out a few days later, also a broken tire due to a rusty nail. The Bush Mechanic course I took earlier to repair tires on the road has come in handy three times now, and I haven't even left yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also visited the GGD twice for all vaccinations (10 pieces!) and an extra COVID injection, since I had had the Janssen version. Everything neatly noted in the yellow booklet and provided with the correct stamps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Carnet de Passage (worldwide import and export papers for the motorcycle) has also been requested from the ADAC in Germany and will be in the letterbox shortly before my departure. Now I have to start the procedure for the visa for Iran and start looking for the things that are going along on the trip to see if everything will fit in the motorcycle cases and bags.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
