The journey will start in two weeks and of course the bike must be in optimal condition. If everything goes according to plan, there will be more than 35.000 km on the clock and that means that I will have to perform regular maintenance on the road at least three times. For the entire route I have therefore mapped out where I can go for repairs or maintenance in each country. Many countries that I will visit do not have a BMW dealer, but fortunately in the years that I have been following travelers, I have marked a lot of addresses of workshops where motorcyclists had good experiences.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also had good experiences in the workshop of Keram Motorrad, where the rear tire was replaced, a final check was done and a modification to the cardan could be carried out at the last minute. After collecting some spare parts, a small photo report and saying goodbye to the employees, I went home with peace of mind. The bike is ready.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, anything can happen along the way. I can't be prepared for everything, but with the following parts I hope to avoid most mechanical problems: tools, tire repair kit, extra thick inner tube, compressor, spare spokes, brake and clutch lever, valve cover gaskets, oil and air filter, brake fluid, malleable metal, OBD scanner and of course duct tape and tie wraps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the last week of this school-year at my work. A busy week, with transfers, completions and farewells. Whether it's at the coffee machine, a dinner with my direct colleagues, or the end-of-year barbecue with the entire staff, it is heartwarming to see how everyone shows interest and sympathizes with the realization of my dream.
