Sleeping villages in the narrowest part of Thailand

By ivo

I drive through the narrowest part of Thailand, only 15 km wide, with the untravelable Myanmar on my left and the Gulf of Thailand on my right. My navigation always sends me to the main road that goes from south to north, but if I choose the option 'adventurous route' I still get beautiful roads! Along mountains, beaches and through sleeping villages.

Despite the heat, really enjoy again on almost empty, perfect roads. At the end of the day there are 35 km more on the clock than the planned 255, all small detours to avoid the main road.

When I arrive in Sam Roi Yot, my final destination, I first have to cool off at a small beach bar. A cyclist from Stockholm has the same idea and we get to talking. I continue my remaining short route to my bungalow and quite by chance the cyclist I spoke to turns out to be my neighbour. Nice to chat with someone again and eat together.
