It storms on the Thai coast. The wind pushes the water high up the beach with rough waves. The sun is shining, but with 27 degrees it is a cool day for Thai standards. No weather to lie on the beach and that gives me the opportunity to repair a broken motorcycle bag. Unfortunately I can't make the zipper but with stapler and duct tape I can keep it together. Fortunately, it only contains emergency repair supplies, which I hope I won't need.

The day of departure to Bangkok has arrived. I've been looking forward to it for a long time because I'm going to meet my sons there, and I'm a bit apprehensive because I don't know what I'm going to find in terms of traffic in this metropolis of 9 million inhabitants.
The 150-mile route is mostly highway, although I do make a few side trips to explore some beach towns for suitability on my upcoming trip with my sons. The coast below and in the vicinity of Bangkok is inaccessible due to, among other things, large areas of mangrove.

Towards the city it is getting busier and due to road works I end up in traffic jams a few times. Fortunately, everything is very orderly and I can often drive between the rows. Before I know it I'm in the city and the traffic isn't too bad. Most roads are 4 or 5 lanes wide and sometimes two lanes run above or over each other, which makes navigating super difficult. But I'm in the middle of the city and I didn't hear a single horn and everyone behaves nicely.
The hotel is located in a quiet alley and the motorbike is safely parked in front of the 24-hour reception. Just one more day to wait and then the three of us will be here. Exciting!
