After the tip of the very nice Esther, whom I met at the campsite, I visited Željava Air Base, located on the border between Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina under the mountain Plješevica, near the city of Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This was once the largest underground airport and military air base in Yugoslavia, and one of the largest in Europe. Now it is an abandoned site that can be visited by everyone. A very special experience to enjoy this ‘James Bond-like’ location to visit.
